Jeffrey Campbell ‘Vee’ Rain Boots
I finally got a decent pair of rain booties! Jeffrey Campbell Vee boots from Nordstrom.
They were available in solid black and in solid yellow (in purple too I’ve seen online), and I really wanted both colors, but decided I could only afford one pair, so I got the black pair.
The box they came in had a design of three people in yellow raincoats with brightly colored umbrellas. Singing in the Rain, I recognize. But what’s weird though is that the box spelled JC’s name as Jeferey Campbell. This made me think I had all along mistakenly known it as Jeffrey, but after googling it, I realize that the shoe box had misprinted the designer’s name!
I’ve tested them in rain, and I have to tell you they not only are functional, they look so cute and cool too! They’re a little bit above my ankles and fit nicely under my jeans. The lining is soft fabric in red and was very comfortable. Protected my socks very nicely. Lightweight — you can easily put them in your bag for emergencies.
The only complaint I can possibly express is that the sole is thin. I can feel the road under my feet, and the heel looked weathered already after just a few times of wearing. Of course, that’s becaues I walk for miles even in the rain. For the average person who has enough sense not to walk out in the rain and just use these to be fashionable as she dodges from one sheltered edifice to another, these are perfect!
I thought the only reason they were called Vee boots was because of the V notch in front. But I’ve heard that V also stands for vegan. Since it’s rubber and not leather, no animals were harmed for your clothing needs. Hmmm… Really?
