Lenny & Larry’s Triple Chocolate Muscle Brownie
I was at Robeks (okay, not a grocery store) when I saw this Lenny & Larry’s energy bar. Hadn’t seen it before so I thought I’d give it a try.
There are two variants of this Muscle Brownie: Triple Chocolate in blue packaging and Peanut Butter in orange-brown. I bought the Triple Chocolate, of course.
Prominent on the front of the packaging: 20 grams PROTEIN. All Natural. A Low Cholesterol Food. Fresh Baked. No Trans Fat.
On the back: Eat Brownies, Get Muscles!
PROTEIN CAN HELP IN MUSCLE DEVELOPMENT IF COMBINED WITH REGULAR EXERCISE AND BALANCED NUTRITION.
“We created another perfect snack! Since 1993, Lenny & Larry’s has been pumping protein into cookies, brownies, muffins and other goodies. Grab it, munch it, chomp it or devour it.. but most importantly, enjoy it and stay healthy.”
Now, about that “Fresh Baked” part. Have to admit it didn’t taste anything like a baked product. I’m not good with descriptions, but the texture was weird… sort of like compacted mud in the penultimate stages of drying out. The flavor was too cloyingly sweet.
This is a protein bar meant to be eaten by active people who need fuel for energy. I have to admit that this was filling and kept me from feeling hungry for hours, even though I didn’t exercise until much later. I personally wouldn’t buy it for the taste, but to keep my stomach for grumbling and cravings at bay.
(After reflection, I remember that gluttonous me ate this with a Think Thin bar and a Robek’s Mini. So of course that’s why I wasn’t hungry. I was stuffed.)
Lenny & Larry’s Inc. 800-LENNY-LARRY (536-6952). Los Angeles, CA 91436.
Don’t know the price because the Robek’s cashier didn’t give a receipt with the prices broken down. Probably around two dollars.
