Happy Death Day, Elvis!

Elvis Aaron Presley, the King, died on August 16, 1977. Everyone’s celebrating today as though it was his birthday.  He was born January 8, 1935.

I know a lot about Elvis because we had a maid who kept an Elvis shrine in her closet. She had a bust of him! All his movies and stuff..

What I know about Elvis off the top of my head: Born in Tupelo, Mississippi. Worked as a truck driver. Was in the army. Hooked up with Priscilla when she was 14 and he was 24.

You’ve heard of the Mexican Elvis, right?

El Vez, the Elvis impersonator who was on the Weakest Link. Didn’t do so bad on that show.

Real name: Robert Lopez — 47 years old but doesn’t look it.  Has penned a lot of witty songs, one of which is titled You Ain’t Nothing But a Chihuahua. (Get it?) CD is Graciasland. He’s doing a free show at the California Plaza in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday at 8 PM.
