Upgrade to Joomla 1.5.12
The Joomla Project has announced the immediate availability of Joomla 1.5.12 (Wojmamni Ama Woi). This release contains a number of bug fixes and three moderate-level security fixes. It has been less than a month since Joomla 1.5.11 was released on June 3, 2008.
This release marks an important milestone for the Joomla Project due to the upgrade of the PEAR library to the new BSD licensed version, which brings the codebase into full compliance with the GPL. In addition, this release contains an important upgrade to TinyMCE v 3.2.4.1.

Received the email before 6 AM. By noon, I had upgraded five Joomla! sites. Thought all went well, until of course I had to add new articles and apply formatting. Then! the horror with TinyMCE was discovered. It’s just screwed up. Appalling! I’ve tried it in Firefox and Safari, and the editor behaves erratically in either browser. Complaints on the Joomla forums too, so am not alone.
Tried every possible configuration. The best I could do was go to the Plug-in Manager and switch from Advanced to Extended and disallow code cleanup. Am being forced to used keyboard shortcuts, though they’re not the quickest way for me to do the type of formatting I need to do. My productivity has dropped 70% from Joomla 1.5.11 and all because of TinyMCE.
One fix I haven’t tried is uploading back the TinyMCE plug-in folder from Joomla 1.5.11 — that would just mess things up for when the next upgrade comes along. This is the most challenging of Joomla’s “quirks” that I’ve ever had to deal with. If you can’t get things done quickly and efficiently, what’s the point of a content management system?
I know, I know… get on with the times…
