Trader Joe’s Trail Mix Fruit & Nut Bar
I ate Trader Joe’s Trail Mix Fruit & Nut Bar. Then I found out that is is currently on the FDA’s list of Peanut Product Recalls for Salmonella Typhimurium — you know the one that’s in the news. For real?
As you know, I am a huge fan of Trader Joe’s and I always say that “I have such faith in TJ’s that I know they will never sell me anything that’s harmful to my health.” I’m referring of course to the fact that most of their food is naturally healthy and I trust that their pre-packaged meals are prepared with such standards that I don’t have to worry about an ascaris worm ending up in my brain.
One of my favorite things to pick up is this Trail Mix Fruit & Nut Bar because it costs just 49 cents. It‘s vegan and kosher (not that those things matter to me) and they use no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Doesn’t taste bad at all. Tastes healthy!
INGREDIENTS: dates, dried cherries (cherries, sunflower oil), pineapple juice syrup, dried apples, peanuts, raisins, grain blend (rolled oats, rolled barley, rolled wheat, apple juice concentrate, sunflower oil, wheat bran), cashews, almonds, dried unsweetened coconut, salt, mixed tocopherols (Vitamin E for freshness).
So I’m looking at the ingredients list and from what I gather from the Food and Drug Administration’s website, the peanut ingredient seems to have come from the Peanut Corporation of America.
