PREUX & PROPER SAUNTERS INTO DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES ON DECEMBER 10th

New Orleans Inspired Bar & Restaurant Brings NOLA Eats and Drinks and Southern Charm to the Corner of Spring & Main

 

(LOS ANGELES, CA – December 2, 2014)– Joshua Kopel and Mark Egland, masterminds behind HollywoodNOLA-inspired bar and restaurant, FIVE0FOUR, will open their latest project, PREUX & PROPERin Downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday, December 10th. The two-story space (formerly The Parish) has been transformed to evoke Kopel’s Louisiana roots. Featuring two distinct dining areas equipped with a downstairs frozen daiquiri bar, an upstairs raw bar, and stacked open-air patios, the new design will boast a healthy dose of polish and sophistication. Guests can look forward to an exciting new menu that offers a fresh California interpretation of New Orleans cuisine paired with potent, prohibition-style cocktails served with a hefty dose of Southern hospitality.

 

                “Originally, we thought our Downtown location would also be FIVE0FOUR,” says Kopel. “But as the project evolved, we quickly realized that it has its own personality, one that completely incorporates the essence of NOLA.  We cannot wait to bring PREUX & PROPER to life in Downtown, which I consider to be one of the most vibrant areas in Los Angeles,” says Kopel. “It has the same grit, heart and soul of my hometown.”

                Executive Chef Michael Ruiz (Cobras & Matadors, The Morrison) is set to debut PREUX & PROPER’s new menu, a NOLA-infused and market-driven line-up of small plates and shareables like Smoked Shrimp Beignets and Wood Grilled OystersPREUX & PROPER’s upstairs Raw Bar will offer a selection of fresh, raw seafood and chilled dishes sourced from the finest Gulf Coast purveyors and beyond. Expect daily specials ranging from a variety of Oysters on the Half Shell and Moonshine Shooters to Crab Claws and Lobster Cocktail.  The Muffaletta Plate made with house cured meats and Crispy Frog Legs marinated with Anaheim Chili, Sauce Picante and Coriander Seeds are also perfect for an evening where you want the food and booze to flow continuously.  Hands-on dishes include a Fried Oyster Po’boy with crispy oysters prepared in a Cornmeal Batter served with Fresh Arugula and Tartar Sauce. The Grilled Short Ribs marinated in housemade Abita sauce served with Cajun kimchee along with the Steam Pot filled with Andouille Sausage, Crab, Crawfish, Corn & Potatoes are not to be missed either. All distinctive. All delicious.

                PREUX & PROPER’s new location also aims to bring the exciting nightlife of Bourbon Street to Downtown L.A. with regular events like Booze & BaconSuperboil Saturday and Bourbon Street Brunch. Are you ready for some football? PREUX & PROPER will be the go-to headquarters for all-access Saints games, offering fans a weekly dose of food and drink specials. Who Dat! Kopel has also enlisted Pablo Moix (Melisse, Plan Check) to design a moonshine-based bar menu featuring classic New Orleans cocktails reimagined. Moix will use bootleggers’ hooch to craft a variety of potent potables from Hurricanes and Juleps to Moonshine Margaritas and Sazeracs. Thirsty for a cold one? No NOLA experience would be complete without a frosty cold AbitaPREUX & PROPER will feature the largest selection of Abita on tap in Los Angeles, showcasing the best of Louisiana’s finest brew. Boasting French Quarter flair, the restaurant is decked out with white, hand-carved wood walls and distressed, wood flooring with matching tables and chairs, perfect for power lunches, happy hour and late-night bites.  Dark wood bars pop against the rustic decor, and outside, PREUX & PROPER’s open-air patios offer a fun, carefree atmosphere for casual dining with pub-style tables, great for parties and celebrations. At nearly double the size of the Hollywood restaurant, including the dining room and patios, PREUX & PROPER at Spring and Main will seat over 120 guests.

PREUX & PROPER is located at 840 S. Spring Street in Downtown Los Angeles at the intersection of Spring Street & Main Street. The restaurant will initially open at 4pm daily for happy hour and dinner, with lunch and weekend brunch service coming soon. Valet and street parking will be available.
