The establishment of an SMTown Museum in Los Angeles was announced in 2013, with the building being purchased in July. The space was formerly occupied by the Orchid Club on the southwest corner of 6th Street & Oxford Avenue, a few steps away from the CVS, the Metro subway station, and the Madang Mall.

Beard Papa (ビアード・パパ) is an international chain of cream puff stores started in Osaka, Japan, in 1999. It now has over 250 stores in Japan and 300 worldwide. Their trademark product is a choux pastry shell filled with whipped cream custard, available in vanilla, chocolate, and specialty flavors such as green tea, strawberry, Nutella, Limoncello, coconut creme, Apple Cinnamon, Key Lime Pie, Banana, Piña Colada, mango, pumpkin, Earl Grey tea, éclair, and coffee. This location is at the Madang Mall on Western Avenue, just north of Wilshire Boulevard. Takeout and dine-in both ok. Hours open: Monday to Sunday, 11 am – 8 pm July 2015: Jipangyi Ice-Cream… Vanilla or chocolate flavor of ice-cream served in J-shaped cones for $3.95 each.

DAISO is a popular chain of Japanese retail stores selling many items priced at $1.50 each. This branch in Koreatown is on the ground floor of the Madang Plaza. Items for sale: sun hats, cheap candy, snacks, bottled drinks... !!! $3 black folding umbrellas that work fine!!!

This branch restaurant Kang Hodong Baekjeong is locally referred to simply as Baekjeong... "Gang Ho-dong" is the name of the South Korean comedian/emcee/former-ssirum-wrestler who owns the restaurant chain.
